Our Basic Needs looks at the way we meet our needs today and compares this with the way we met our needs in the past. In this pack, we explore Oxygen, Water, Food, Shelter, Clothing, Energy and Community. We also look at the global market system, and local production; and examine ways in which we

can make our lives more sustainable, without compromising too much on our modern comforts. In our Practical Implementation section, you will find a lot of advice on how to teach your pupils to grow their own food, and shop sensibly for local produce; and also to become energy conscious. It is vital that we teach our children to take responsibility for their own waste disposal and become a lot more aware of the potential further harm that can occur if they do not act in a globally responsible manner.
